Short answer: nobody can promise you that GTA VI clips will be monetized, and anyone who does is guessing. What we can do is lay out what YouTube requires, what Rockstar has actually said, and what lowers your risk. Then you can decide for yourself.

What YouTube requires

To earn from ads you need to be in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). The current thresholds are:

  • 1,000 subscribers, plus
  • 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months, or 10 million public Shorts views in the last 90 days.

YouTube has announced that from February 1, 2027, new applicants will need 8,000 watch hours or 20 million Shorts views. If you are close to the current thresholds, the GTA VI launch window is a good time to push.

Being in YPP does not mean every video earns money. Each video still has to meet YouTube's advertiser and reused-content rules.

What Rockstar says

Rockstar's published policy on using its games in videos:

  • allows occasional, non-commercial use of its games,
  • asks creators not to post isolated cutscenes or leaked content,
  • keeps the right to remove content.

The policy does not spell out whether monetizing GTA VI videos on YouTube is allowed or forbidden. We are not going to fill that gap with a guess. If Rockstar publishes a GTA VI creator policy, we will update this post.

Content ID: the more immediate issue

On YouTube, game publishers can claim gameplay through Content ID, and licensed music in a game can be claimed by the music owner. A claim usually means the ad money goes to the rights holder, or the video is blocked in some countries.

For Shorts, a Short longer than 1 minute with any claim is blocked worldwide until the claim is released. GTA radio is the obvious risk. More in GTA 6 Radio Music and Copyright Claims.

What lowers your risk

1. Add something of your own. Commentary, reactions, tips, a funny edit. A clip with your voice and face is your content built on the game. A silent cutscene upload is just the game.

2. Skip cutscenes and story beats. That matches Rockstar's policy and keeps you out of spoiler trouble too.

3. Keep music out. Radio off for the moments you plan to clip.

4. Keep Shorts at 60 seconds or less so a single claim does not block them worldwide.

Where ViceForge fits

ViceForge is built for exactly this kind of content: gameplay plus you. With Facecam Detection, vertical clips keep your face in frame, and captions put your commentary on screen.
